Altar Flowers

Many people have special days in the year which they commemorate. Flowers on the altar of St. Saviour’s Church can mark the anniversary of a birth, baptism, confirmation, marriage or death, or may be used as an expression of joy of thanksgiving at any time outside of the Lenten season, when our altar remains bare.

When flowers are given in thanksgiving or as a memorial, a special prayer is offered and an announcement printed in the Sunday leaflet. Anyone may give flowers at St. Saviour’s for any Sunday. If more than one gift is received for a Sunday, the additional money is placed in the general Flower Fund, and both occasions will be commemorated in the leaflet and in prayer. After Sunday services, flowers from the altar are given to sick or shut-in members of the parish. The suggested donation for Altar Flowers is $100. Please provide at least one week’s notice for inclusion in the Sunday leaflet.

Christmas and Easter gifts are used for the flowers and plants which decorate our church on those festivals.

If you would like to make an online donation for flowers on a particular Sunday, and/or for Christmas, Easter, or the Thanksgiving Day services, please do so via our online giving platform, Tithe.ly and provide details about your altar flower commemoration in the memo field.

Alternatively, you may email our parish administrator, Mary Carolyn, to provide details about your altar flower donation.
